Originally from Western New York, Mr. Wazaney grew up in a city named Salamanca about hour hour south of Buffalo. He graduated with Honors from Salamanca High School in 1998.
In 1998 Mr. Wazaney began attending Fredonia State University with a Elementary Education major and Middle School Extension, along with a Coaching Minor. Focussing mainly on History and Language Arts, he received his degree in 2003.
Upon graduation, he moved to The Villages, Florida for his first teaching position. Over the next 3 years, Mr. Wazaney taught Eastern Cultures Geography, Western Cultures Geography, and American History. He was also the football and track coach.
In 2006, Mr. Wazaney moved to Charlotte, NC. He was hired at a brand new school that was not even completed yet, Bailey Middle School. Falling in love with the area and its families, Mr. Wazaney immersed himself in the Bronco lifestyle teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade history. He continued coaching at Bailey as well, heading up the football team and the track teams which have seen an amazing 8 Conference Championships in a row.
Over the last decade Mr. Wazaney has been runner-up for Teacher of the Year twice and in 2015, he was honored as a MeckEd Teacher of Excellance.
Currently, Mr. Wazaney teaches 8th Grade American History, is the Track & Field coach, advisor to the school's Leadership Ambassadors, and a Lighthouse team member. He was recently married on October 21, 2015 and has a dog named Gibbs.
